SILLINGER SUPPORTS A.P.E.C.S
Sillinger company, having the marine biodiversity protection in mind, decided to support the APECS research programs.
 

A Semi-rigid boat SILLINGER 490 PRORAID was lent to the Association allowing the scientists to go to the observation areas and do their shark approach operations.

A.P.E.C.S (Association for Selachians Preservation  and their study) is a non governmental organization with scientific and educational aim and has been acting for 12 years. Its target is to contribute to preservation of sharks, skates and their environment :
 
-by implementing research programs in order to participate to the development of knowledge
-by informing and sensitizing public to make them know more sharks and skates as parts of French natural bio diversity.
 

The pilgrim shark is one of the most vulnerable kinds of sharks on  the French coasts. In spite of a consequently significant protection, the pilgrim shark is always accidentally captured, collisions are recorded every year as well as disembarkations for sale which periodically take place on the French territory. This fact is to be deplored while biology of this kind is always incomplete: reproduction (mating areas, birth, period and uncertain sequence) but also migratory movements.

 One of the key plans in 2009: the BASKING TAG program  which aims is characterizing the migratory movements on a large scale of the pilgrim shark in northeast Atlantic by expanding satellite brand technologies. This program takes place in 3 stages: mission in the “Mer d' Iroise” (Brittany) from June 1st  to 14th 2009 then in the Man Island (GB) from July 5th  to 14th ; the first results are being expected for winter 2010.

“Coupe de l’hippocampe” from May 1st to 2nd 2010
Initiated in 2006 by the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez and the Polo Club of Saint-Tropez/ Haras du Gassin, the “coupe de l’hippocampe” associates sailing and polo, gathering in the same team great sailing competitors and international polo players.
 
“Voiles latines de Saint Tropez” from May 6th to 09th 2010
This race gathers about 80 sailing boats in the old port. Partner of the association “Vela latina tradizionale in Italy, the races occuring in Saint Tropez are taken into account for the circuit of the “Voiles latines” in the Mediteranean.  Some festivities in a seamanship yard and a carpenters village are also offered to public.

 
“Régate des Brévades” on May 16th 2010
A convivial race is organized in view of contributing to the local great traditional feast.

“La Giraglia Rolex Cup" from June 12th to 19th 2010
It is organized by the Yacht Club Italiano and the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez and attracts over 200 large and medium sailing boats competitors, impatient to race in the Saint-Tropez Gulf before the “grande course” of Saint-Tropez/Gênes.

“Le Trophée de Bailli de Suffren" from June 24th to July 10th 2010
About 20 sailing boats attend this race-cruise starting in Saint-Tropez ending in Malte, stopping in Sardinia and Sicily.

“L’estivale” on July 18th and “L’aoûtienne-Trophee Pourchet” from August 21st to 22nd
Both these races gather local competitors

“Les voiles de Saint-Tropez” from September 25th to October 3rd 2010
Impossible to miss, the event “Les voiles de Saint-Tropez” attracts over 300 modern and traditional boats among the most beautiful boats in the world. It is an international famous race: 3500 sailors, thousands of people flooding in the village, creating a magic moment.

“Le championnat d’Europe de Dragon” from October 5th to 9th 2010
Following to the 75th anniversary of the Dragon in 2004, the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez and the “ Association Française de la Série Internationale des Dragon (AFSID) decided to “remake” this event of October. Since 2005, Dragon-Saint Tropez is the meeting of about 50 units coming from various points in the world on which navigate the best “têtes de series”. This race is hardly expected, it is a beautiful race to be watched.
 
“Les Voiles d’Automne Madraco Cup” from November 5th to 7th 2010
About 60 sailing boats coming from all over the world attend the races. The trips are fierce and demand skilled forces for the manoeuvres as well as tactical choices. Furthermore, the autumn period, revealing its most beautiful colours, often involves harder weather conditions, adding some spice during the races
